The season has finally come to an end. Over the last couple of months, we have traveled to the Gill plant in Illinois and out to Pueblo, CO for Pat Manson's meet. We also had a great meet out at my house. The first of many.
Brian Carrel put on a great meet at Gill. Jeremy and I had a great time. Vaulting didn't go as well as planned, but what a great experience. Can't wait to come back next year.
The first meet at my house went great. Andree' jumped 4.30m, April 4.40m, Jeremy Scott made 5.20m and Adam Keul won it all with 5.50m. What a big turn out for the first of many. Just goes to show how many great vaulters we have in the states and the facility worked out good. Next season we plan to have a series of meets in the late spring to get set up for the summer.
Pueblo was a great event. Mark Pierson and Pat Manson did a great job putting it on. I would like to thank them again for the hospitality that they gave us. Warm ups went well and the rain came and gave us a bit of delay. I went to short run on Justin Percell's poles and NHed. Adam Keul and Jeremy Scott put on show jumping 5.50 and 5.65m. Adam took the win on the last meet of the year and a season PR. The most amazing part was the meet was in the dark with no lighting. You couldn't see the box or the bar and still everyone put up good attempts. It was a meet that I will never forget. I hope to be there again next year with better results.
My vaulting has continued to improve over the summer. I made quite a few changes to the technique and grip and hope to continue to improve over the off season. With off season starting today, the thoughts of what's to come overwhelm me with excitement. I know there will be some pain over the next couple of weeks and that will pass. The excitement comes with this being the season before the Olympic games. It's time to step it up a notch this year. The changes that I have made were at the right time. Now it's time to get consistent with the technique and making the right bars. Realistic goals have been made and strategies are being set. Today is the start of a season to remember. Daily, we will be reminded of what we are doing this for and results will show it.
Remember Persistence and Passion. Keep working hard,
Gordy
